It is close to excellent road, rail and air communications for links to the central belt of Scotland and the rest of the UK; and the Great Cumbrae Island provides good shelter for yachtsmen and motorboaters, making it possible to enter Largs even when strong onshore winds and big seas could make it difficult to access other harbours.
